Icelandic badminton players from Badminton club Akraness competing in Torshavn
Club Akraness applied for a NATA grant and sent 9 players and 5 adults to Torshavn to compete in a badminton tournament. We were so pleased to get the grant from NATA and everyone enjoyed the trip to the fullest. We traveled to Faroe Islands in May 2023 and had the best time.
The group had a good time in Torshavn where they got to know the players from Torshavn very well. They had training together and a 2-day tournament. The accommodation was very good, the players stayed in the Hall and had a lovely meal from the club in Torshavn.
This trip was extremely good for the young players, both the Icelandic and Faroese, both for the sport side of it and personal growth. They got to know each other and had a good time on the badminton field and outside of the sports hall, where the Faroese kids showed them Torshavn.
This kind of a trip is very important to develop relationships among juniors with similar interests and to learn from each other. They got to know each other better and got wonderful friends. We will hopefully be able to participate in more tournaments in the Faroe Islands in the future.
