Application guide
This guide explains how to apply for a NATA grant. Anyone from Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands can apply, and you can find out more about the two kind of grants that we offer on our Apply now page.
How to apply
Submitting an application
You can apply for a NATA grant using our online application forms.
The information you will need to complete the forms includes:
- A brief description of the project
- The timescale of the project
- Contact and budget details
- Any additional information that may be relevant for your application
There are two separate application forms for the two types of grants that we offer. Find them here:
Timing
There are two application deadlines each year – usually in February and September. Follow the News on this page for dates.
Our online forms are active all year round (except in the weeks after the deadlines, when applications are evaluated).
How applications for tourism development and marketing grants are evaluated
The applications are evaluated on the following factors:
- The idea and quality of the application – be sure to fill in the form correctly, as incomplete forms will not be considered
- Budget requirements and other funding
- Tourism development
- Partnership between the countries
- Marketing possibilities
- Innovative nature
- Community and sustainability aspects
Please read the NATA evaluation criteria carefully before you send in the application
Support within this category is only considered to projects involving a collaboration between at least two of the three West Nordic Countries: Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
The maximum grant offered for these type of projects is DKK 100.000, and this amount must not exceed 50% of the project‘s entire funding. The grant is not for wages or consultant fees.
How applications for travel support are evaluated
We evaluate applications for travel support based on the following factors:
- The purpose of the trip
- The quality of the application – be sure to fill the form out correctly, as incomplete forms will not be considered
- Emphasis on cultural interaction – e.g. staying with local families instead of using hotels
- Budget requirements and other funding
The maximum we offer for travel support is:
- DKK 1.000 per person for travel between Iceland and the Faroe Islands (round trip)
- DKK 2.000 per person for travel between Iceland and Greenland (round trip)
- DKK 3.000 per person for travel between the Faroe Islands and Greenland (round trip)
The grant is only intended for travel costs – not accommodation or daily expenses.
What happens next?
Twice a year, after the two application deadlines, the NATA Board will evaluate current applications. They will decide which projects will receive funding, and how much will be given.
Shortly after this, applicants will be informed by email whether their application has been successful or not.
Successful applications
Successful applicants will be notified by email. If you have been granted a Tourism development and marketing grant, you will receive a management contract to sign and also be notified if there are any other terms that you need to fulfil to receive the grant.
If there are any changes to your project after you have been granted money, then you should notify NATA by email as soon as possible.
Once your project or trip is completed
