In October 2021, the women in Aulos Flute Ensemble sent NATA a greeting, telling us, that they just got back from a wonderful trip to the Faroe Islands. They played 4 concerts and organized a seminar on female composers in collaboration with the Nordic House and the association of Faroese composers. They specifically mentioned the good and active participation in the seminar, where Teitur Lassen, an international singer/songwriter from the Faroe Islands, was among the participants.

Aulos Flute Ensemble performed new music by nordic female composers, they wanted to emphasize the uniqueness of the Nordic countries, how its culture has evolved and the foresight in contemporary music and especially to gain insight into Nordic women’s approach to music to find out, if it is in any way different. The music group had world premiere of a piece by the Faroese composer Unn Paturson, performed among other Nordic pieces, played on flutes from the whole flute family, from piccolo to the contrabass flute. A Nordic kinship in perfect female harmony.

Aulos Flute Ensemble was established in 2019, by Pamela De Sensi, Petrea Óskarsdóttur and Karen Karolinudóttur, but they have played together for many years. The purpose of the group is, among other things, to commission for new music for low flutes; alto-bass and contrabass flutes focusing on all flute contemporary repertoire. They want to highlight the common basic need to express themselves through music, and believe that they are responding to the call that women need to speak up more and make themselves heard.
